    RCD 310 confusion

RCD 310 with controls on the steering wheel.

When I'm in radio mode, a push of the left / right buttons on the wheel seems to step me between stations in a strange manner.
All I want to do is select between the pre-sets, but it seems to just go to the next station or frequency and not to the next pre-set.

I only want 5 or 6 main stream FM stations programmed in the pre-select buttons and I just want to step between them from the wheel controls!

Also - and maybe this is part of the issue - once the radio has selected a station, how do I delete it, and how do you delete a preset? (ie, how do I to get it back to blank, i.e. --- above the button?)
I know how to set the current station to a button by holding the preset down, but I want to get rid of some!

Sorry for the rambling question - but the RCD 310 manual is a little vague.

ok this is a default with the RCD310, it does not go to next channel, instead goes to the next available channel the tuner can find in scanning mode.

As for replacing the station, use the right side knob tune to the frequency you want.
Then simply puch one of the six buttons and hold it in for approx 5-10 seconds. It's just been reset to the new radio station.

I'll also take it your golf/Jetta, only has half height display on centre console?
Also have the two Phone buttons on the steering wheel?

It's a known problem with this combo. If you had full Height Centre display on Gauge Console. You would be able to go thru the list of radio stations and select what you want without having to change the actual radio what so ever. And once the selected channel is choosen, only then will the radio change to the desired station.

Works in CD mode like this too, If you add Bluetooth to your combo, you get no display of who is ringing or contact list.

But if you add voice tags to the numbers you will be able to dial out via voice and when A call comes in it will tell you who is ringing, providing a Voice tag has been configured for number.

No, I have the full height MFD (103 TDI MkVI comfortline)

What I discovered late today is that either the left or right arrow buttons, on either the LH OR RH side of the steering wheel - as shown in the link - both scan the frequency up or down.

So unless there is a setting somewhere (I'm sure there is) , the left and right arrow buttons are pretty useless when wanting to select pre-stored radio stations
