I can't recommend any particular speaker personally, though have heard good things about the Focals.
RNS510 output is 4x20watt. If you want some decent sound output you'd ideally add an amp also.
Hi all
I need to replace all 4 of my speakers. The voice coils are blown and I'm getting too much distortion to live with anymore.
Does anyone know the exact sizes and/or specs of the OEM (not Dynaudio) speakers in a B6 Passat?
Also, can anyone recommend a replacement brand and/or model for them? I know the RNS510 puts out around 60watts RMS, so something in the 80w - 100w range will give a reasonable buffer.
Suggestions anyone?

Perhaps a little biased personally however German Maestro are a nice buy. Crisp and clear with no distortion even at high volumes. They are run from an amp though.

If you've blown all your speakers, then there's a good chance you're sending them a clipped signal from the headunit. Most factory headunits only put out around 4-5wrms (if that), and a quick google shows the RNS510 at 5x20w, which would be about on par. Correct me if I'm wrong, but your claim of 4x60wrms is a bit wide of the mark.
With that in mind I'd be thinking of adding an aftermarket 4ch amp and it will give you a clearer signal that will be kinder to whatever speakers you put in, not to mention a clearer sound. Something around 4x75wrms @ 4ohm should be plenty
Most people think that blown speakers mean they are putting too much power through them, when often (not always) it is because they are driving their headunit too hard and the dirty signal it sends kills the speakers
EDIT: Oh, and Focal and Maestro as mentioned above both make very nice speakers, but I tell everyone to head to a specialist store and LISTEN to a range of speakers and go from there. They can have very different characteristics and what suits one person might not be what you are after.
What music do you generally listen to? That can have a large impact on ideal speaker choices too

The fronts are around 6.5 inch, back around 6.0 inch if I recall. But they are not "standard" sizes, and are riveted to the door on plastic speaker rings. So you will either have to make or purchase new ones to fit normal size speakers in them. Something like this:

As far as I know all R36's have a standard amp under the drivers seat. I've simply replaced mine with a dynaudio amp for a noticable improvement in sound quality.
Thanks for all the replies!
