Package arrived.

I've now found out (should have done some more research, was just keen to snap up the gear) that the amp in the Golf is only a Blaupunkt 300w, 8 channel, which looks to be the same as what I have.

So I'm undecided now if its worth the effort to be driving those good speakers with an undercooked amp...

Is that the original amp for that system? If not, you may also have impedence issues that may affect your amp.

If they are the right speakers, I'd be looking for a better amp. Also, the 'Dynaudio' (typically Lear) amp from the Passat is supposed to be specifically tuned for that cabin...

Unfortunately, the Passat amp is not cheap to buy aftermarket..

I think I'll just sell this package to a Golf owner as a complete set, then look again for the right amp once I actually find the one that has the single large connector from my wiring harness rather than trying to convert to the dual connector amp.
