    R32 MKV 2008 stock/OEM sound system?

Just wondering exactly what the stock/oem 2008 R32 MKV sound system consist of? Was there a sound system upgrade or just the one stock? 3-ways up front and 2-ways for rear? Is there an amp or just powered from the HU?

Also just installed my RNS-510 which works however there is no fader option no sure if this is anything to do with detecting an amp etc...

AFAIK, there is no amp. The "premium" sound that the GTI and R32 boast just consist of 10 speakers rather than 8. The stock HU is just the RCD500.

R32 and GTI have an amp under the passenger seat unless you purchased Sat Nav with the car. You get 10 speakers and the crossovers are built into the amp.

The RNS 510 needs to be coded to the car to tell it that it has a soundsystem installed, once this is done you'll get the fader.

Thanks, how do I code my RNS-510 for this setting? Can it be done easily with the new firmware?

Also how easy is it to replace the stock amp with an aftermarket swapout?

I had the rns-510 installed as a dealer fit option on delivery, does that mean I still have the factory amp under the passenger seat but its being bypassed? And also, I don't have the fader option, howcome?

You have the factory amp and it will be working however your RNS 510 hasn't been coded correctly hence the lack of the fader option and your sound quality won't be up to scratch.

    You'll need a Vagcom/VCDS or a dealer tool.

Not so easy as the crossovers are built into the amp. Depends on what you want, see how the stock unit goes when it's setup correctly.

I have one. I'm at The Gap - either Thursday evening or next week sometime. Maverick, what needs to be coded?
