Putting head unit back into B6 Passat

First of all apologies if this has been addressed elsewhere, I have tried searching variously and was unable to find it.

I have utilised the great posts here on the boards to add in a Bluetooth T-connector behind my RNS-510 head unit in my 2008 Passat. Unfortunately, I am not completely unable to get the head unit back in. No matter how much I wiggle, jiggle or try to finagle it the bulky cables & adaptors are simply in the way.

I am at a bit of a loss as to what to do - the head unit is sticking out around 4cm I would say, quite far!

If I could get the upper kick panel and/or the glove box out I'd probably be able to get a hand in there to tuck the cables down further but I can't figure out how to make that happen as I'm afraid of damaging the car further (snapped one of the clips on the lower kick panel)

I'm curious as to what others have done in this scenario?

    Many thanks!

Pull out the climatronics panel underneath the head unit, then reach in from there and pull the cables out of the way as you push the head unit back in.

Thanks for the response kamold, I did try that one out however the plastic housing the head unit extends all the way to the back and up a little, I can't even really touch the cables let alone pull them through unfortunately. Is there a way to remove the plastic housing?

    No it's not removable.
If need be cut some of the back of the cage away with a Dremel or a gyprock hole saw.
