First things to check will be the fuse in the new head unit itself, and the car's fuse for the radio circuit.

Thanks kamold, I have checked the new unit fuse (all good) and reinstalled the old unit as it was getting late, and the new unit works fine so power is being supplied to the interface cable at least.

I wrote to the supplier and they said I needed a can bus decoder in order to turn it on, if that's the case I'm a bit annoyed as that wasn't mentioned on the listing - it was only referenced in the context of gaining control through the steering wheel.

Do I need a decoder for it to turn on????

Yes, you need one, depends on the supplier as to how they tell you this. If its for VW they normally have the listed price including the decoder.

ok, unit is installed and working (mostly). Wifi doesn't turn on for some reason. I suspect it is something to do with firmware, any clues on how to update a device without wifi?

Exclamation How to make the stock amplifier work with an android head unit?

    Hi everyone!

I got an android headunit for my Skoda Octavia 2 (with factory fitted amp and 12 speaker sound system). After plugging it in, I can't get audio from the speakers. I found that the problem was the stock amplifier. It seems that it can only work with OEM head units (and some aftermarket HUs) - the stock HU sends a CAN command to it saying when to turn on. Is there any way I can make the stock amp work with my new head unit? Any help is greatly appreciated!
