Hi guys,
Pretty new to the whole VW thing, having just picked up me new 2013 Multivan. The van has a RCD310 head unit coupled to the VW Premium Bluetooth. I have managed to hook my phones (Samsung Galaxy S2 and S4 - neither are rooted) up to the BT in the car and the RSaP takes over the SIM card no problem.
My issue is that I need to use the phone for Navigation and emails etc.. but I love the integration of the phonebook etc into the headunit. So I have 2 simple? questions,
1) am I able to maintain an internet connection on a phone that is connected to my vans bluetooth ?
2) On a slightly different tangent, is my van able to grab my internet connection and share this to other mobile devices in the van (i.e. kind of like a wifi hot spot). I seem to recall reading somewhere that this was possible.
Many thanks in advance.
TB
1) Internet will always be disabled in RSAP (Remote SIM) mode. However most premium features such as music streaming and phone book download will still work in non-RSAP (UHF) mode, so you may want to try this. You would lose the SMS integration features though.
2) There's a brand new Bluetooth module that purports to feature WiFi hotspots. If these become more widely available you could purchase one on eBay or CarSystems.pl and swap it out with your one for ~$350-$500 probably. I think the product code is 3C8035730D. Note that none of us here have tested this locally yet though.
