Okay, so today I went along and picked up a brand new Passat CC VR6 today.
So, you can imagine how pleasing it was to spend upwards of $75,000 on a car, to find that I can't get the Bluetooth to work with anything but a rubbish 5 year old Nokia with a cracked screen!
Unfortunately, the type of Bluetooth wasn't specified on the contract, and it turned out to be the of the 'premium' type, which is very nice, but hardly works with anything. After doing some research, it would appear the best option to get an actually working Bluetooth setup would be to install the 'Skoda' (1Z0 035 729 A/B/C/D) non-rSAP unit.
Does anyone know how difficult it is to swap over the VW Premium unit for the 'Skoda' unit? I would imagine that most of the wiring would be done, and hoping that it would mainly be just swapping the units over and recoding the car?
I'm not sure where the Premium kit is fitted, or what cabling it uses... the mic should be the same I'd imagine though... your best bet would be to get a Skoda kit if you want to go that way and then compare wiring, etc.
