    Power magic pro

    Hi all,
Hoping someone can help as I'm completely lost, I've read a few of the other threads but none that have fully helped me sort this.

Popped the glove box out (absolute pain) and then was stumped as to which fuse to attach the wires to. The ground wire is obvious but what fuses are people connecting the acc(+) and the batt(+) to? Also is it ok to wrap the wires around the fuse and plug back in or is there a better way?

Thanks in advance I'm totally lost

No its not Ok to do that. It is the worst way to do it. You could end up with a pile of ashes instead of a car.

What I did was find 2 spare sockets that have power to them. You need a multimeter and test them out

One with PERMANENT power and one that has ACC only power Then I bought two of these at Jaycar Depends on whether the sockets are full size or mini's.

Plug the camera plug into the socket from the Power Magic and away you go. set the PM with all the Dips up and you will have 11.8 cutoff and 1 hour parking. If you dont want park mode there is a way to wire it up to turn on and off with the ignition only. Pm me for alternatives.

Have installed numerous Blackvue cameras in this manner and have worked OK for over two years.

The large pic shows the fuses with the wire out the back. MIni at the top. Normal below. Its almost impossible to solder a wire on yourself, believe me I tried several times.

What make of camera are you installing. If you have no idea what I am talking about I politely suggest you get someone who does to show you how to do it for your own safety.

Well the above is the best and safest way to do it The fuses are $6.95 at Jaycar. It only needs to be plugged in where there is power on one side as it is only powering the wire in this instance.

It is better to do this than piggy back onto another fuse in a VW as it can upset the electronics if alters the load on some circuits..

You will need to crimp a male bullet connector onto each wire to use those connectors. Not a hard install should only take 10 mins.

Was waiting for that. They are Ok but I am reluctant to use them in a VW as the circuits are susceptible to fault if resistance etc is altered too much.

Also if it is fitted incorrectly the fuse is negated.
The way I have done them has worked in the Passat the Polo a Ranger A Territory and a Mazda 3. Also in some fuse boxes there is not enough height to use one.

Have you actually used one or just promoting the use of.
