Use a spade bit, or a Uni-bit (Step drill). I think it's 26mm, but you'll need to measure the sensor to confirm.
You can use a holesaw and auger, but they're usually messy.
Hi all,
Quick one for those that have attempted to install OPS. The instructions (i just have the kaufatec ones for a jetta, but same size sensor in the polo) talk about drilling a 3mm hole from the inside then using a 'forstner' bit to drill out the hole for the sensor, but it neglects to say what size the forstner drill bit needs to be.
I don't have the kit handy to measure the sensor size, but has anyone done it and knows? Are they readily available?

If you're in need of any 6n1 parts, odds are that I am going to have them (dismantling 2 at the moment)

The best thing to do is measure the sensor.
I have some aftermarket ones fitted to my Hiace, and the guys used a hole saw. I asked them why they did not use a large drill and the answer came back that it was easier to control the bit on a holesaw than a large drill. The large drill tended to produce a more "ugly" hole.
