Done properly, a sub will add clarity and quality as well as extension and increased power handling. By properly, I mean the bass being filtered away from the 'normal' speakers and redirected to a sub that is set at the same output level as the main channels over the crossover range.
Subs get a bad reputation because people set them up to run at excessive levels and without rolling off the main channels so there is a massive hump due the overlap.
The Cleansweep looks like a pretty good idea if the factory head unit is heavily EQ'd but does anyone know if that's the case with the RNS-510? If the head unit's output is pretty flat, then it'd be a waste of money. It's too bad they haven't incorporate LPF and HPF filtering around 100Hz for a sub signal output (in fact, they've done the opposite with the summing CL-SSI module)
