    Pioneer TS-WX77A Stealth Sub

Has anyone installed one of these in the Polo? How does it sound?

Looks like a great sub that doesn't take up much boot space

    Whoa, that's seriously pricey!!

Why not make a normal sub/amp easily removable for when you really need the space? I'd be glad to show you my setup + let you listen to the result.

That's a pretty awesome idea for a removable sub!! Something I might just consider for my Golf since space is sort of at a premium in the Cabriolet

After doing a fair bit of research, its quite hard to get a decent looking setup for under $500 including amp, sub and enclosure, wiring kit

Can score these little subs for about $470 online, $599 if you go to autobarn

Is the look a major criteria? Just interested to know what your major intent is.

The head unit alone is a good upgrade for the Polo, I did that and the speakers came alive.

Still not the $3k system I had before, but pretty good.

If you want decent low bass, a 12" in a decent size sealed box is my pick. Lots of good cheap gear on eBay. I'd be amazed if this little one would sound nearly as good.

I take my above comment back, managed to pickup a 12" clarion sub in a sealed box + 570w clarion mono amp and wiring kit for $460, spent the better half of today hooking it up, its true that audio has no price limit but you only need to spend very little to get a decent setup.

Firewall was a pain in the ass, had to remove the left wheel and wheel well covers to run it down the side through the gromit near the door, but glad I avoid drilling.

All up very happy with the end result, I have already replaced the head unit with a Eonon D5101 which has a 60x4 amp, sounded great just needed bass, the stock speakers are excellent, so glad i didn't replace them as all this car needs is a sub

Was thinking of returning the 12" clarion for a 10" alpine and save the boot space, not really after the doof doof, just a more complete sound, what do you guys recon?

Yep - a head unit that can redirect bass + a subwoofer and amp gives very decent sound in a 9N3

I reckon a 10" sealed sub is ample. I'm running a 10" no name sub with a very old 100W (30W+30W RMS bridged) Sony amp and it plays as loud as I can stand and as low as any track in my music collection.

How did you get the power cable down to the wheel well from the battery? I went via the left windscreen washer tube.

Depends. A good ported 10" will get down just as low, but a sealed 10" generally does not get down to the low frequencies as well.
The driver needs to match the box in order to get the best results. Ive seen great results with a singe 6" in a box that was well designed.

10" for punch, 12" for good bass, 15" in a big box for true bass. Not practical but if you look at my build thread, there was a reason I had a long-back corolla.
