    Hi,

I am thinking of getting one of these and I was wondering what other costs on top of the unit there were

EG: Adapters for the steering wheel controls etc.

    Hi Goneincognito,

Here is the quote from Autobarn:

    Hi Geoff,
Here is the total quote for all of the components to be installed into your car. Any questions please give me a call.

    Avic $3599
Labour for fitting AVIC system $200
Shroud, interfaces any extra components needed for fitting AVIC $700

    Factory Intergration Alarm
    CAN bus interfaces
    Tilt Sensor
Glass Break Sensor Total Alarm Stock $650
    Alarm Labour $200

    Total Stock $4949
    Total Labour $400
    Total $5349

We will see you on Thursday.

    Kind Regards
    Gareth Jarrett

Also add $399 for the Pioneer rear parking camera installed if you so desire.
You have to install the specific Pioneer camera as it can be turned on whilst driving as well as automatically coming on when you select reverse, and a normal parking camera (which is cheaper) cannot provide both options.

Well, you get what you pay for.
All I can say is that after using the AVIC for the past month, nothing else comes close - but, that's my opinion

One alternative, the Eclipse AVN 6000 has had its price lowered. I think it's now around the $2500 area.

As a comparison, the Eclipse is DVD based instead of hard drive. It doesn't offer Bluetooth, or the car performance features. I like it's interface better than the Pioneer (though of course that's just a personal opinion). Ipod and camera integrate nicely.

It's good that we now have a little bit of choice in this market, as Australia seems to have been neglected for quite some time.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but as far as i am aware Pioneer Australia WILL NOT sell you the Australian software as what you have in your possession is a grey/black import.
