Also, the GPS does not work, do i need another unit for that, too??
Hey all,
Ok, so, i have a pioneer avh-p5700dvd headunit with the vehicle dynamics processor, and have done since day dot when i brought the car, the only thing is, some of the features don't work such as the rev count, the speed is out etc etc. It's not a big problem, but i'd like to have it fully functional, you know? Could anyone point me in the right direction or help me as to why this might be?

I had a 5750 in my last car and had the VDP for a while too, so might be able to help! I think the 5700 is the same model but US market.
The VDP calculates revs by reading the alternator signal from a +ve source, if this is not working then either this line has not been connected or is connected in the wrong place, like after a noise filter.
Some other features are dependant on a connection to the ECU, like altitude for some reason!
Speed is calculated by GPS, where is the GPS aerial located? Should be a small square box, either on the dash or on the roof.
Although the VDP has GPS it is not a navigation device, although it can point you in the direction of a saved start point, only really useful for 4WD'ing IMO.
To be honest, the VDP is a gimmick, it was fun for a while and actually although the power figures are guestimated seeing the difference when adding mods to the car was really useful. I ended up selling mine as they are rare on the used market and fetch a good price.
I will see tomorrow if I still have the soft copy of the manual for the VDP, does not seem to be available on the Pioneer website anymore.
