Passat B5 - Is there a logical audio upgrade?

    Hi All

Firstly, my radio AM reception is terrible and variable, but the FM is ok. CD works but that is all.
Is there a logical upgrade to the stock head unit in the B5?

Next, how do you change the external aerial mast. The boot off mine is cracked and doesn't seal.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

If you mean the seal to the roof. I think Tim at Dubaddiction has them. The antenna bit just screws off.

Supercheap etc sell adapter cables that should let you fit any head unit you like without any fuss. I had some stress with my A4 wagon and had to use a speaker to line out adapter because it has an amp for rear speakers. That was about $15 from Jaycar.

Yeah I can screw the mast itself off. I mean the bit below that.
I see a lot of people with the RCD RNS etc but I think my car predates using any of those.
If I got a new HU then one with digital reception would be nice (as well as external inputs, obviously.)
When I said logical, I meant OEM and logical.
I'm not sure if I lose anything by getting rid of the OEM HU.
