Oh I vaguely remember this concept from a few years ago. The consensus on car audio au forums was that they werent as good as a proper sized sub.

im running 2x 10in pioneer subs in a large sealed inclosure(tuned), 2x blaupunkt 6in splits, 2x pioneer 6in 2 ways, JVC head unit 1x kenwood amp 80w x4, and us audio (cheap but good) 4 channel bridged running subs.
basicly same set up was in my exa was running 138Db...(minus 1 amp)
little bit more power now though...but im too old for loud music these days my 30yo ears dont cope well, lol...barely goes over 25 on the volume.
used to have a job 9 years ago installing performance audio... but dont really follow the scene anymore.
Cheers, Benny

i have a pioneer 6850MP, with jaycar 6inch splits in doors, goes quuuite hard!
well i had too . . . to accompany my Alpine DD-Linear splits wid the V-Power MRP-F450 amp, i decided to det a sub have baught a Focal 27H sub . . . muzic needs d lowz guyz!! fulliiiiii . . . although the bass of the exhaust cancels any attempt made by the sub unless i have it cranked, which aint happening . . . so when idleing at the lights its nice
i had that trouble when i had my old exhaust. i had to have the stereo cranking to here it! now i can just listen to it, even with out the subs, (for the time being)
lol, wat! the next step would be the V12 F545 for $800, i cant use the PDX series cuz its 4ch amp is too powerful and priced at $900!. . . So I think my MRP-450 V-Power amp for $470 is just fine . . .
Power isnt the only thing either. Higher grade amps offer better signal quality, which gives out better sound quality. You would notice a biiiig difference upgrading!
Big amps running lazy is also better then little amps revving their balls off!
