Here I was getting rid of circa 100 odd nobodies from my phone book collection, and ask my better half if ("IF") I can take the Polo tomorrow to work - to test my sync issue. Sure she says. Got up this morning and she's off to work in it - leaving me with the (bland but reliable) people mover. Not happy Jan ...Will try again tonight...

Basically, everytime your phone is paired with the car (such as everytime you start the car after being away long enough for the Bluetooth conection to have been cut), the Phonebook will auto sync with the car.

I have an iPhone 4, & it automaticaly syncs, meaning any new numbers in the phone will be sync'ed to the car.

I think there is a limit to how many contacts can be sync'ed.

Next time you get the new phonebook available message, check to see how many of your contacts are accessible in the car.

If you have too many contacts, you might find the car will only sync up to "R" or "S", & any contacts after that will exceed the limit, & won't be sync'ed over.

Just delete any old contacts to get the number down, & it should sync everything over te next time it's paired to the car.

Hope that makes sense, & helps.

    Cheers,

    Jason
Hi JasonP - no luck - deleted a bunch got it down to 100 numbers left in the iPhone 4 book - no sync.

I've copied my telephone settings option and the page in the manual that says I should have an option - update telephone book.

does your RNS510 offer that setting in it's screen ? Maybe my installer coded the system to think i have the better MFD ?

My understanding is that it syncs from scratch every single time you start the car up.No numbers are stored on the rns510.With regards to missed calls, last dialled it depends what phone you are using if you will be able to see this.

And it would appear you'd be right. After trying most every combination on the RNS, I turned to the iPhone and did a hard reset on it. Low and behold I jumped in the car this morning and it sync'd A-OK.

    yippee
