Question "New Telephone Book is Available"

My RNS510 tells me this each day. I can press OK or leave the screen alone and it will go away. But I do not know how to accept or download the new contacts that i assume it recognizes are now in my iPhone.

How do i synchronize / download the latest phonebook contacts?

I think it does it automatically, but if not, you can manually sync it through the MFD. It's in the settings section I think? There's something there about Phone Book and under than an option to update it.

Thanks Pepe but my Polo doesn't have the MFD. Is there some way through the RNS 510 itself ?

No idea, you could try putting a new contact in your phone, then seeing if it auto syncs?

Tried that. New contact does not appear. Anyone know how to transfer phone book updates...?

It can't be done through the RNS. If you don't have MFD, then you might need to unpair and re-pair the phone.

Thanks mate - that will be my last option - found a page in the RNS manual that shows a screen shot with a phone option showing a button 'update contacts' - will see if the dealer has to configure it.

I haven't seen it, but I usually do it through the MFD anyway. I'll have a play tomorrow on the way to work and if I can find anything, I'll let post it up.

I get the same message thru my RNS510, via the Kufatec Basic Plus Bluetooth that's been installed.

Basically, everytime your phone is paired with the car (such as everytime you start the car after being away long enough for the Bluetooth conection to have been cut), the Phonebook will auto sync with the car.

I have an iPhone 4, & it automaticaly syncs, meaning any new numbers in the phone will be sync'ed to the car.

I think there is a limit to how many contacts can be sync'ed.

Next time you get the new phonebook available message, check to see how many of your contacts are accessible in the car.

If you have too many contacts, you might find the car will only sync up to "R" or "S", & any contacts after that will exceed the limit, & won't be sync'ed over.

Just delete any old contacts to get the number down, & it should sync everything over te next time it's paired to the car.

Hope that makes sense, & helps.

    Cheers,
