New speakers for T5, what do you recommend?

...as the title says, I will need a new speakers for my T5 and would like to buy one that will not fell apart like the OEM causing my Clarion radio shut down with AMP protection activated message. I would prefer to spend less than $100 for 2 of them (if it can be had) and they don't have to be rated at ridiculous wattage, since the van is reasonably quiet and my hearing is still OK.

So, the Audio specialists here, what do you recommend?

    Any advice greatly appreciated.

    Hi Transporter
I know this is outside your budget, but this is what I had installed recently, and it sounds awesome.

6.5 inch in the door ( NB - 2ohm, which the RNS510 can run), and splits on the dash.
Place in geelong fitted them and put sound deadening material in the doors, all up about a grand.
No subwoofer, but its clear enough, great sound stage, adequate for me.
Yoy might like the 165 A1 --> $329 Focal Access 1 speakers and subwoofers
If this is too much, I'm sure someone will be able to recommend a budget 6.5 inch component set...

wow, recommending focals when someone asks for a budget solution.
i think the best best would be to go to jbhifi or strathfield and get any of the "brand" speakers they have on sale. pioneer, alpine, etc. they usually have some for around the $70-100 mark and they will be better than oem.

hoddy, did they run new wiring or just use what was already there?
If they used the existing wiring, how/where did they integrate the crossover?

Just thinking about that, how are the original woofer and tweeter split?
Is a crossover used, or is there separate wiring for each at the head unit...?

--> Existing wiring used - I assume the VW standard wiring would have been up to the task
--> Crossover they said was going to be located in the doors ( although I'm not sure how they would then feed wire to tweets)
Not sure what was there originally, was planning to do the job myself, but for $140 fitted including sound damping I went with that.
I can check with the shop if you need more info...

It's OK, I mentioned that I could stretch my budget a bit. ....and if it was a new van, I would consider the $328 one.
I will go to JB this time, thanks.
