hey Ebo, did anyone help you with your problem, or does your voice still not work?
Hi everyone,
I have just taken delivery of a new Golf GTI with factory fitted bluetooth and RNS510. I was wondering if the phone unit comes with voice control? Many threads in overseas forums talk about voice control. Even youtube videos showing it. The car's user manual has a section on voice control. If I press the voice control button, it just mutes the radio. I have the 9w7 unit installed.
Could australian versions maybe NOT have this option?
I used vagcom and activated voice control on the phone controller (77). I also changed the steering module and activated "push to talk". Now the voice comes on asking for a voice prompt, but nothing happens when I say anything..
Is there something else I should be doing? And is it al all possible to do it?
I understand that if I want the RNS510 to do voice control, I need to rewire the mic to it. But my question is just about the bluetooth phone unit.
Thanks

Is the phone intergrated into RNS510??Can you view phone book data when pressing the (PHONE) button on the RNS 510 and are you able to use touch screen to dial numbers???
I installed a 9w7 bluetooth unit yesterday, and enabled the PTT button and my voice control works fine...
Sorry not much help I know...
MY11 MKVI Golf Wagon 103TDI | Platinum Grey | DSG | RNS510 | MDI | Bluetooth |
Hi,
I have a new Golf 103tdi with factory fitted bluetooth. (I also have VCDS cable etc). In VCDS it shows that I have the
9W7 module fitted (part number 5K0 035 730 B) . I have enabled the PTT button (Steering wheel module 16) and enabled speech rec in the phone module ( Telephone module 77)
However, I still have no voice activation... the only thing I have noticed is the speech button no longer lights up the mute icon in my stero (stocker RCD 300.. not RNS510)
Are there any adaptions that need to be made, or is it just long coding? I noticed in adaptions that the output for speech is something like 5.4 e-07 DB or similar, whereas other outputs are 0 DB. I tried changing that and although VCDS said it was successful, when it reread it was still the same value.
Also, the overhead buttons don't seem to do what the manual says, or what I would expect... the 2 small ones both try to dial a number (008008655792436) when I hold them in for 2 seconds, and the larger button doesn't seem to do anything.
Any thoughts or ideas??
Regards,
Brett
posted this in mytiguan for someone else with the same issue...
"Maybe a bit tough for you to troubleshoot yourself but you should be able to get VW techs to check for you
Normally only require 1 microphone in the overhead console.
as your bluetooth is working fine it is obviously connected to your bluetooth module
The RNS510 requires its own microphone input to process voice commands.
Normally it is set up such that the microphone inputs into the RNS510 microphone input first, then there is a wired microphone piggyback output from the rns510 to bluetooth module microphone input.
I believe you do not have the piggybacked microphone connection between the RNS and bluetooth module installed
There are no issues with different firmware as all settings are on by default.
I presume all the coding has been done already. "
seems to be becoming a common problem.
G'day,
Is there any chance of you posting an autoscan of your car? I'd love to see if there are any differences betwen yours and mine.. it doesn't seem to make sense that your PTT and voice control work when the factory fitted ones don't. I'd hate to think that the 9W7 unit itself is different, but... who knows??
Thanks,
Brett
