i'm still not seeing any other benefits of upgrading to 5xxx, from 402x.

That's what most of us said about upgrading to 4020 from 3970.

But if it's there and free, then why not!

All working well and happy with the results. Now I have to choose between Map screen and Radio info

Some stations show which song is coming up next and also the weather forecast on screen via Radio Text which I like

You'll need to wait for a nonfactory firmware upgrade. No idea when or if that might be available.

I have nothing to compare it with but was there a selection for a Male English Navigation voice before the upgrade ? (I can't remember seeing it but…)

Saw that too and thought the same thing.

However did it give Barry a go and didn't do anything for me.

So quickly went back to Betty

Can't remember seeing it before either (why would you change it from English)? On a few failed attempts I reinstall 4020 and since it was German I had to reselect English, and both genders were there.
