That's definitely a lot more re-coding and items lost than what I went through.

Can you elaborate on what base you were coming from?

That is, previous firmware version, year & model car and type of MFD (to help narrow down the upgrade warnings for others).

Also what hardware revision (ie C8, C12 etc) and if you had custom partitions on the hard drive.

Anyone getting a weird electronic oscillation sound and pop for about a second on boot with 5210? I have an aftermarket amp and it never did it with earlier firmware and now I'm getting with 5210. I'll check my coding and look into it further.

Edit: I did a hard reset and that appears to of cleared it up

    Hi,

I am telling lies - the maps are there, it just took a while for them to work. Definitely lost all my music though (no big deal).

Rev D - 1T0 035 680 D with 30GB HDD. Will check what the menu tells me next time I'm in the car. Upgrading from 4020. Did not repartition since upgrading from 3890 (what the unit shipped with). Car is a MY11.5 Golf Wagon.

Yeah media error. I have tried a few times and haven't been able to even start a load. But my good media are in storage so I am using cheap CDs from work so not unexpected.

Yeah I've tried a DVD also but again mine are in storage. Don't have time to tinker with different burning programs and multiple disks so I'll just wait until I have to go to the storage unit next.

I had failed reads from two CD-Rs. I had full success using a DVD+RW 2.4x disc.

My advice guys is burn to DVD+R.

Have not had any problems since with any FW versions, and I'm just using an el-cheapo brand and imgburn at 1x speed.
