New firmware for RNS510/Columbus versions 4120 and 5210

there are no maps in the firmware update. and if you download the version from this thread, you will lose everything stored on the hard drive - unless you had a kamold custom map installed before - there is (was) a V5 map floating around that is fairly up to date.

Maps are a separate CD - can find them in a stickied thread in this section.
Bluetooth can be retrofitted, many threads about it here. Check carsystems.eu or ebay for purchasing. DIY is fairly easy if you can wire up your home A/V system.

i was under the impression you don't loose anything if you upgrade from 402x, as it already has the 90/5/5 partition?

i do have the v5 maps disc, incase i have to reload.
i can always reload my music.

but vcds settings (for bluetooth), rns language, vim etc etc - i don't want that lost.

Correct: if you already have the 90/5/5 partition scheme you won't lose anything.

If you had previous 2 partition setup from 2760 etc, or standard 3xxx series with 50/25/25 then music and maps would be lost also.

Coding is maintained with this version.

so 30 mins later, i've now got the new firmware running.
was a smooth install.
didn't loose any settings on the rns510.
i'm yet to check bluetooth & vim.

i've lost the custom boot screen, but that was expected.
will reload this soon.

based on 5 mins of playing around - radio text is a hit or miss, depending on the station.
haven't seen any weather information yet.

thanks kamold for making the iso available. as usual, u made it a simple & painless experience. 1st with the 402x series, and now the 412x series.
i gotta buy u drink or something next time i'm in sydney!!

Can you just confirm your partition sizes?

HDD is showing approx. 33GB, so it has repartitioned it to 90/5/5. Thought it might have as it took a while to do the HDD step during the upgrade.

Is there any chance of knocking up a version of the disc for us Europeans with a 75/20/5 partition.

I think this makes the unit shut down completely earlier than before (used to be 30 mins I think to stay on during a 'quick duck into the shops'). I'm seeing the VW logo more often.

It's my turn and did the upgrade to 4120 from kamold's custom Fw4020.

As far I can tell, nothing was lost. Instantly I get the station text. My settings seemed intact. Haven't tested VIM etc.
