MY12 Tiguan with 310 audio upgrade

Hi,
Has anyone any experiences of upgrading the audio system in a Tiguan?
I have a stock 118 TSI with the 310 head unit. I don't want a show pony , just something a little better.
I have a reasonable 5ch amp available, but want to know what head unit is best, best speaker sizes and upgrades, sub choice and positions etc.
Only really need iPod connection. MFD is nice but frankly prefer iPod interface over existing 310 browsing !

Could do it myself but frankly don't have time so any good installers with Tig experience on Sydney Northern Beaches or Paramatta ?

I'm sure many will post some of their solutions, but if you search this section there are a few threads with the info you looking for.
It can take bit longer during the weekends for people to reply.

I got an RNS510 off ebay and you can swap it with the right set of tools (torx head screwdriver set) in about 15 minutes if you have the guide.

Not sure about the speakers and whatnot, but the upgrading to the RCD510 should be a good headunit. You can then retrofit the MDI and run iPod from that. They're only about $350 on ebay and the forums so if you don't want the Gps/Hdd/Dvd of the RNS510 and don't mind the lower res touch screen, it's a good option.

I'm a clever guy, but I can't work out how to search JUST the audio forum for the word 'Tiguan'.
Is it possible, in which case show me how!!

For the record, I spent 20 mins trying to do it and failed.

You could just go back over the pages. The stickies are good source of info too. I know the search function is not the best one, I use mainly "google custom search", it's the long bar on the left, just above the "search" on the top right. Keep in mind that the radio is the same in all late model VW (except some, like Touareg).

I've sort of worked out I need one of the 500 series head units.
It's more the speaker sizes, removing door panels etc, cabin acoustic and sub placement I was looking for. My last car, a Territory, was a real PITA as far as subs were concerned and there's a lot less room in the boot to waste in a Tig.

I'll keep searching ....
