that doesnt make sense because the yellow and green guide lines are a function of the rns510 and not the camera, isnt the camera just a simple video in line?

It would make sense that the projection lines are superimposed on the video feed by the RNS510 because it monitors steering direction already. This same function is what allows it to keep track of where it is going even when satellite coverage is lost. Can anyone confirm whether there needs to be some setting changed in the RNS510 to get this to display?

Obviously the accuracy would vary with different cameras, as these have different fields of view. Even if the projection lines could be switched on somehow, there's no knowing whether the projection lines are correct to the particular camera fitted to my mate's Tig.

The projection line is coming from a part. which it will combine the signal from camera and Can-Bus for the projection line. I got a 2012 tig with oem RVC, the projection line is come with it. But when I am doing some research for a RVC of the Scirocco, looks like the projection line is not available because of the unavailable part.

I have been trying to researdh this one too. from what i have found between the two kits is the camera is the sam but the trajectory option has a little box. i have seen a picture of the kit but cant find part numbers.

If they have fitted this at the dealership then somthing dodgy is going on. i went to a few dealerships looking for golfs. i wanted a camera but the would not do it here in aus thay said it had to be done in the factory. which i found pretty crap. even the alarm has to be factory and all it has extra is a siren and a tilt and movment sensor.

Gents I have posted an article on this before.

There are 2 types of VW OEM RVC's. The first one is commonly known as the dumb unit which has only the fixed yellow lines that are part of the camera component in the boot handle. When coding the RVC, Only the video link is activated in the No 56 radio module if you are using the RCD 510 or the No 37 navi module if you have the RNS 510. The head units do not control the yellow lines these are preprogrammed from within the camera itself. This basic camera can be bought for USD 280 plus postage from either an ebay seller in Taiwan who only deals in VW OEM parts (where I bought mine from) or a dealer in the Czech republic who also sells a lot of Skoda parts. The gentleman in Ireland is rather expensive and I have found sellers in Germany & Poland a lot cheaper for VW parts. The only problem is you have to search for the part in German for example VW Lichtschalter (Light switch)

The second option is the advanced one which is described in the Tiguan owners manual park assist section. It has an additional module or box of tricks (Part No 5N0907441B) between the camera and the radio/ navi display. Again the radio/navi head unit merely acts as a go between the various steering sensors and this module which is mounted just below the rear windscreen wiper as i could see a vacant mounting bracket space in my tailgate when i did my RVC installation. This module has the additional green and red guide lines lines and must be firstly activated in the No19 CAN gateway module and then calibrated to match the vehicle it is installed in. The chap in the Czech also sells these OEM kits but are around USD550 for this kit.

I suspect the dealer has fitted a non OEM kit after the car arrived in Aus as these kits are pretty common and cheap here compared to the OEM one's. There is no reason why a dealer cannot install either the dumb kit with yellow lines only or the advanced unit which is just an extra matter of recalibrating the lines by either using their VAS (VW software) or getting a private contractor to do it using the VCDS software

I took a full day to install mine as I had no manual or directions on stripping the panels to lay the wiring etc. if I had to repeat the exercise I could do it in three to four hours which I would expect the dealer to also do it in but as usual the dealer was probably trying to cut corners!

PS if anyone wants an OEM installation done, pay for my air ticket and beers and I'll be there tomorrow!!!

No polo has no park assist in aus not sure about europe but id say no aswell. is park assist required for the trajectory function to work (besides having the RVC with the control box)

Sorry VW refer to it as driver or rear assist not park assist. The basic RVC would work as it links directly to the RNS 510 and only requires to be enabled in the #37 navi module (the rns 510) however the advanced version requires the #6C module (box of tricks) to also be enabled in the #19 gateway (CANbus module). I am not sure if the Polo CANbus module supports or is programmed for this part. Suggest you ask this question on the polo section of this forum
