Hi mate, yes drilling the rivets out is the only option. You can use the bolts and nuts or you can rivet them back on. You can buy a cheap riveting pliers with the rivets for around $15 from Bunnings.
Hi guys,
First of all, sorry if this has been posted somewhere else before, but searching the forums/googling didn't get me anywhere.
I bought a bulk pack of Dynamat which I plan to put into all 4 doors of my MY2012.5 Polo GTI. I took the door trim off today and then I saw it: The speakers are attached with rivets, not screws. Since I am not that experienced with these things, here are my questions:
- Is the only way to remove them drilling them out? If not, what other options do I have?
- After applying Dynamat, how do I reattach the speakers? Do I need to use rivets again or can I use screws? If rivets, what size and what tools do I need?
Any quick help would be much appreciated! Really wanna get as much as possible done tomorrow (Sunday).
Thanks!

Thanks guys. Went and bought a drill, drill bits and a rivet gun with rivets from Bunnings today. Got as far as drilling/hammering the rivets out. It's my first time so everything takes forever...
Will post more once I find the time and manage to finish everything!
