great idea !!!! I would suggest to seal the lid with silicon. The lid may vibrate than causing it to "fart". See how you go !!! great work.

Lol @ Stu's sub. I pumped the shiz out of them.

I was going to do it in a leather suit case but it wouldnt have been enough bass for me. I got the idea from a mk2 with the same thing. There are a few wagons i have seen with the esky idea. Its great because its prity solid and there is plenty of room in there. You should seal it up with liquid nails or something so air doesnt rush out of the lid, if that happens it will sound bad (not like that 8yr old kicker soundes any good anyway).
I wouldnt put the amp in the box, it will heat up and being an esky it will retain the heat and stuff the amp. Mount the amp on the back of the esky, out of sight. Porting is a little bit more complicated than cutting a hole. If you get me the inner dimensions of the box (and if your using that sub) i can do the maths and i can get you a port that will work properly. If you dont to it properly you can make it sound rubish.

Instead of the suitcase idea i couldnt help myself and i went big..and brown:

Another thing, you cant use the sub and port to cool the amp. The sub sux and blow (lol) so there is no air actualy circulating properly.

When you sent that pic to me today the boys at work thought it was pretty different. Apart from the usual "Your gay VW buddies from Melbourne" comments, they thought it was pretty cool. hahaha.
