The antenna adapter may be needed, basically on the older units there are two distinct fakra antenna plugs, on the later units they have a twin plug. This can be fixed by trimming about 3mm of plastic shrouding off one plug.
The reverse camera input is the 26 pin plug I referred to.

That is the standard antenna connector for the 3rd gen radio. You need to pull your original radio out to see what connector you have.

if you're near bulimba you're welcome to drop over of an afternoon and pry your radio out for a look. I have required tools.

Thanks, I guess I will see for myself when I go to install it (likely on the weekend). If I do need the adapter I'll just order off ebay would be easiest or have to get from VW suppose.

Not necessary to disconnect the battery. If you go with RNS510, I have a VCDS cable you can borrow.

You should be able to pick one up for less than that on here, or about the same but with the rvc plug. Plus, who would do something so horrible to a poor, innocent RCD 510 as put THAT song on it... Then again, think of it as rescuing it.

Just another thought, I'm hoping I don't need canbus uprgade because mine is 07/MY08 but how do I know for sure, I don't my good new battery to die on me.

Short of pulling out your CAN-Bus gateway, you'll need a VCDS cable to find out which version of CAN-Bus you have.

I have never actually got confirmation of this, but I'm pretty sure that the MY08 cars that came with the full height MFD are fine from a canbus version.
