No TP RNS510

Hi,
Recently I am getting "NO TP" on my RNS510...is there a reason for this,.is VW enabling this because I have not touched setting on my RNS in the last 2 years so for it to appear randomly in last few weeks is strange...Maybe this is a sign it will be enabled?

More than likely you've turned the TP on in the settings... The "NO TP" just means there is no station in your area broadcasting the signal and the RNS510 is looking for one... Mine picks up a TP signal around the meropolitan area but cannot display the data...

yeah that is all good but as I mentioned I haven't changed the setting on my RNS in a while meaning all of a sudden it displays this msg...

Well check the settings anyway as it looks like it's enabled now - it's a check box on one of the setup screens... Then again RNS510s seem to do strange things - some change radio stations themselves judging from other threads...

As far as enabling traffic alerts go, it's VW that have to pay the licence fees to get traffic alerts to actually display... At present we can pick up the signal but not display any data - hence "TP" or "No TP" displayed when the settings on the RNS510 allow... Actually displaying traffic info can only be enabled with new maps... V7 maps are only just out - time will tell if these will allow the traffic info to be displayed as it should...

Was playing with mine the other day and found a setting for always go to favourite TP station So if that is enabled and you are on a different station and are in the area of the fav one it may decide to change to it.
Worth a look anyway. I have TP unticked so it doesn't appear.
