    MDI Question

    Hi All,

I'm about to take delivery of a 2009 MKVI 90TSI. It doesn't have factory MDI, but i am planning on doing it. Where is the best place to buy the kit if i want the MDI plug to be in the glovebox?

    Cheers

    Andy

Hey mate, I've moved your thread to this VW Car Audio and Electronics forum as the MDI is "generic" to most VW's and this sub-forum deals specifically we these types of things, and has more people who've installed these things themselves than just the few MK6 Golf peeps.

If you look around this forum and use the search function, you may even find your answer before someone who knows it replies...

Interesting, does it have a MEDIA button on the front?

Best place to buy the kit is eBay. It's not the easiest install if you want it looking good. I bought an MDI extension lead and ran it under the steering wheel, down the A-pillar, under my seat, and have the connection sitting inbetween my seat and the centre console (you don't really see it all, and just pull it up a bit when you want to plug something in). My results aren't perfect either - I've got USB audio working fine (which is all I wanted), but if someon plugs in their ipod the music is distorted and jumps, and the 3.5mm jack doesn't work anymore.

You can get the cable here: Kabelsatz MDI VW Multimediabuchse Media-IN, 38,99 € - NAVI´s&MORE - Ihr CarNavi Spezialist bei Bielefeld

The MDI unit is here (I only got mine because they were on special for a lot less): http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/VW-MEDIA-...ht_2673wt_1139

I also got this extension cable: Extension Cable for VW Audi
