MDI Option - Is USB cable included??

I've just picked up my new car which has had the MDI fitted by the dealer. In the VW brochure it list the MDI as "fitted in the glove compartment and supplied with USB connection cable". The dealer now wants to charge me $85 for the cable which I expected to be supplied.

My dealer is making a habit of misrepresenting the features of the car so I don't necessarily believe what their saying.

Has anyone who has had a car delivered recently with MDI fitted received this cable without having to pay extra for it??

My understanding is that the USB cable is included at no charge. I had mine swapped for the iPod cable free of charge prior to delivery.

I collected My R on Friday and the dealer fitted the MDI cable as part of the Sterio demo. They but the usb cable in the glovebox. So you should have both cables.

Thanks for the replys. From my experience with this dealer I'm not surprised with what you're saying. I've sent a letter to VWau asking them to confirm what I should be recieving and I'll be adding it to my list of things to be rectified.

You should get the USB cable gratis. The Ipod cable is the one everyone has a bitch of a time getting thrown in! I wish my mdi was in the glovebox. I like my centre armrest cubby hole!!!

The USB cable is included with the MDI - factory fitted or dealer fitted. If the dealer suggests it's not included for dealer-fit, then tell them you should be charged less for the MDI!

The iPod cable is an extra here in Aus, and I had to pay for mine. In the US the situation is reversed (iPod cable free, USB cable a charged extra).

I concur with AdamD. Also note that the USB cable does not support iPods plugged in using normal Apple iPod usb cables that come with the iPod. You must use the VW iPod cable. the only devices that work on the VW USB cable are USB memory sticks and other USB mp3 players.

I got the US deal I guess... negotiated for the iPod cable to be included instead of the USB one when I bought my Golf.
