I downloaded the recent 23.2gb file to a 32gb card and the car updated. At 18% it failed. The system rebooted and attempted to co tongue, but failed without progressing. I cancelled it and the map is saying aus/nz are 2019, but the rest of the date says 2017/2018 and I don’t know if the actual firmware/software of the headunit has updated.
I believe the maps were successful, as navigating around the recent south road works, near port Rd(Adelaide) the map is showing the new layout, whereas pre-update attempt, it wasn’t.
As a completionist, though, I’d like to have everything up to date.
Any tips are welcome!
Cheers.
I have been able to successfully update the Sat Nav also to P76 ROW 2019.
The above download is now available on the ŠKODA update portal; Update portal
MY18 VW Passat Alltrack Wolfsburg Edition + Panoramic Sunroof + some extra goodies... (Pure White)
MY17 ŠKODA Superb 206TSI 4x4 + Sunroof + Tech Pack + Comfort Pack + some extra goodies... (Moon White)
Yes, works well. Updated the maps on our brand new Passat Wolfsburg today.
Maps on the car were at 65! Updated to 76 now.
I just downloaded the ROW data and loaded onto USB (exFAT) and it worked fine - took 50min. Might try a Class 10 SD card next time as I think it might be a little quicker.
Did you ever figure this out? I am also confused if it is possible to install just the AU/NZ maps on a Discover PRO 2 (MIB2), if it is even necessary and if so how it is done! Can anyone shed some light on this?
If you do install the full ROW map, does it actually install everything or does it just update what it sees is already there? If it installs all, has anyone noticed the suggested impact to search performance?
Currently my car (factory installed maps), when you try to enter and address by the Step-By-Step method, only has countries Australia and New Zealand. Can someone tell me if once they have completes the ROW update if there are more countries now (eg South Africa etc)?
Thanks Anthony, that is what I have done...
There are no other options. It then downloads the entire 23.9GB onto my card which includes multiple folders and example of one is...
As you can see there are much more than just AU/NZ files here.
This is for a Discover PRO 2 (MIB2) so it did not come with an SD card and it installs the files on its internal storage. I suspect you are talking about the Discover Media which comes with a small capacity SD card?
For anyone that has done the update on a Discover PRO, did you end up with more countries (when you try to enter an address using the step-by-step entry method) on the radio than just AU and NZ?
both our Passats have discover pro. Personally, I don’t care a jot what folders are there - can’t say i’ve looked. I just download and install using Discovercare whenever a new update is available. It always downloads well over 20GB. I use a 32GB SD card (whatever one I don’t have in a GoPro at the time), drop it in one of the 2 card slots in the glovebox, and kickoff the update.
cant say I’ve noticed any other countries coming up when inputting an address
Cheers
Juist to be clear, if you have Discovery Media, which is MIB1 with the 6.5" screen and the unit in the glove box, you need to retain the existing VW SD card and update the maps using the Volkswagen DiscoverCare application. It will take around 45 minutes to make a backup and then download the new maps to the card, but there is no other way to do it.
I spent ages trying to figure this out until I found the app.
