Kicker - Any good, do they fit, what do you think?

    Hey all,
Looking at upgrading the soundsystem..bored of distortion, even with the amp. Here's what I'm looking at, because I think it damages my wallet the best way - I'm tight budget-wise . What do you think? I've got necessary amp power etc so i'm just looking for speakers. (www.customcar.com.au has info+pics on all the speakers)

    1. Looking at these (for front and rear door upgrades) - KICKER KS Series 6" splits. (RRP $299)
    - Are these any good? I've heard them and they sound good, but you can never tell.
    - Will they fit in the stock holes on the VR6?

    2. Looking at - KICKER CompVR 12" Subwoofer. (RRP $299)
    - What do people think of this? Any good?

    3. I need 6x9's as well I guess. Don't know what to look for, cause personally I don't like them much...

Any feedback is much appreciated..I'm not gonna be buying straight away, but it will be in the not-too-distant future..

6" mids won't fit in the door holes - you'd need 6.5" to fit with little or no modifications.

You might be better off asking in an American forums for Kicker stuff... I don't see a lot of their products down under!

What amp do you have by the way?

Really? 6" is too small? hmm..Is that because the gold-coloured metal thing that bolts the stock speakers to the doors make THEM fit?

I have a Precision Response Full-Range Digital amplifier. 4x100W RMS. It was the third-place winner in car audio magazine for like...2006 or 2007 or something. Really great amp, got it from Jaycar at wholesale through my cousin .

Just in case you're wondering..I'm running the splits in doubles; two ohms fed off one channel of the amplifier to the two left or right speakers. Works out perfectly (RMS wattage-wise) if I use those exact kickers.

Kicker is ACE for power and quality for the price. They did go down in quality a bit once they stoped making them in america but they are still ace. Monster power.

have a look at www.indo-audio.com, they are good and cheap and decent with shipping. If you can go for an L7 and SS65.5 components.

I have used Kicker amps and subs in previous rides and my mate has splits and other Kicker goodies.

I have always liked their products, never had any problems with them. I would definately have a listen before opening the wallet. Not everyone listens to the same music and your idea of quality sound may be different to mine.

(I like mine with bass and quality midrange, not too much up top)

This is the advice i'd give to anyone looking for speakers.
    Listen to them.
    Listen to lots of them.
    Compair them.
If you can, listen to them in a Car.
    And, use your music.
Stores are very good at working out what speakers sound good with what music. They will play what makes them sound good.
