Just fitted RNS510 in tiguan some issues/questions

i've just retrofitted a RNS510 F unit into MY12 tiguan. its rather surprising everything seems to be plug and play with out VCDS coding!? steering wheel controls worked, factory bluetooth worked, full MFD integration with compass etc...but after an VCDS scan, error codes turn up for the microphone module under satnav. my guess its the voice control mic thats not plugged in. upon research some said you need the wiring harness for the original factory bluetooth mic to work with RNS510? Some said all you need to do is switch the + and - mic wiring pins of the factory bluetooth mic to the back of the RNS510 unit? which is true? i cant seem to find any diy info on the mic wiring pin swap.

My car has the factory Optical Reverse Sensor installed is it possible to have the distance displayed on the RNS? how do i code it with VCDS if its the case?

    any help is appreciated

Read here: Tiguan VCDS Coding Options

Display of OPS is in Module 10.

You should enable both Navigation (Module 37) and Telephone (Module 77) within the Can Gateway (Module 19) if not already.
Might explain some of your fault codes.

NOTE: Transporter might move this thread to the Audio & Electronics sub-forum.

I am in the same boat as you. Seems to eradicate the microphone issues, you need to run extra wiring back. Looked too difficult to me so I have ignored it at present but if you find a easy way, please post the answer.

When I installed my RNS, the MFD screen didn't work until I recoded it ? Anyway, yes the OPS screen will appear if you select the right options - check the above but let me know otherwise and I will see how mine is coded.

thanks guys for the help. yep the coding worked

yeah its weird...i had my vcds ready to code but didnt have to? lol pretty much plug and play...all the bluetooth function was working too with the 9w7 controlling my music player on the galaxy s3 through the steering wheel. only thing i had to code with VCDS was the voice control button to the steering mute button.

in-regards to the mic i think you have to re-pin the MIC (in) + - and the MIC (out) +- from the factory mic wiring to the back of the RNS510 harness (no idea where it is..no diy guide found). which means you can only voice call through the RNS510 phone menu? or the other option is you could buy a $60 wiring harness off ebay (i think you still have to wire it back to the bluetooth module).

I got my RNS510 factory fitted on my tiguan. but i fit the RNS510 to my scirocco myself. you have to code channel 09 otherwise the instrument won't show navigation info as well as the direction. for mic, i believe the factory go from mic -->RNS510 --->BT, and if factory fitted RCD510, it will go from mic direct to BT. so the voice control won't work. you can rearrange the wiring if you need the voice control. or you can disable the coding in RNS510 to dismiss the microphone error code(I believe it is called microphone diagnostic something).

+1. Suggest posting in the audio section also as there are many more RNS "experts" over there than here in the Tig section of the forum. Also I don't believe your question is necessarily Tig specific so I'm sure others can help solve your issue.
