Installing rockville rw8ca Sub. Need help (Polo GTI 2015 6C install)

Hey guys, i recently purchased a rockville rw8ca 8" sub for my polo GTI (6C model.)
I am fairly new to sub installs and was hoping someone could give me a hand with connecting the system.

I have purchased 8 Gauge twin wire to run the power and ground for the sub. Going to use the standard speaker wire supplied to supply the signal for the sub but i am having trouble deciding how to connect to the head unit system, the polo uses a can bus system and i have been told to be careful not to ruin the cabling.

If anyone has done this before or knows what i need to connect into the head unit i would appreciate it a lot. thanks.

    Hey Mate,

I did a similar install to my MK6 GTI. There is some good info on the golfmk6.com forum. How to remove trims, How to remove the stereo. Wiring diagrams etc. Not sure about polo specific though.

Assuming the sub and amp are installed in the boot.

Power wire is run to the battery and fused within 30 CM of the battery. Need to fina a gromet to get this through the firewall to the battery and be protected.
Earth is mounted to the body via a ring terminal as close to the amp as possible.
Amp trigger wire is tapped into a 12v switched source. I tapped into the 12v socket in the boot. The amp switches on when the trigger receives power.
You also need to tap into the source - which will depend on your amp. Some will allow you to tap directly into the speaker output and send a "high" level signal to the smp. Some require a line out converter which converts the high level signal to a low level signal. Which you then connect to the amp via RCA leads. You need to know which wires to tap - so again you'll need to know the colour scheme.

    Good luck.
