Hi Guys,
Last night i installed my RNS510 unit that i got my my Lithuanian friend in my MK6 Golf.
All went well. The Facia removal was a bit scary to get off (as i didnt want to break it) but that was definitely the hardest part.
Everything is working as normal, steering wheel controls, BT, SatNav, DVD etc. Very hapy.
The only problem i have is my VAGCOM cable and software. I got it from a mate and i believe its an "ebay special".
I can connect to the car without any issues, but when i go into the "Installation Menu" the only thing i see is "01 - Engine"
I cannot see anything else, which means i cant tick the "37 - Navigation" box to tell my car it has a RNS510 unit installed. As a result, the navigation symbols are not displaying on the MFD in the cluster.
I believe this is because the software im using is old (version 9.something) and because the software is made for the "ebay cable" its not fully supporting the MK6 CANBUS.
Has anyone seen this before? I tried looking for some new software for my cable but had no luck.
Obviously because its not a proper Ross-Tech one, it does not work with his software.
My cable says the following on it:
VAG908
Dual K & CAN <-> USB
VAG/ISO Interface
If someone could point me in the right direction or possibly upload me newer software that will work with my cable, it would be much appreciated.
If i cant find any updated software i may have to find someone with a proper VAGCOM and throw them some beer.
Im located in Melbourne (Brunswick & Glen Waverley area)
If you are about to do a RNS510 install in a MK6 Golf, feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Always happy to help and provide assistance.
Thanks
Ricki
