Tiger73: You sure do ask the big questions!! I''m not entirely sure what the green wire from PIN5 (J453) to PIN11 (J527) does. In fact, I suspect that this wire may not be there on a mk7 (notwithstanding what the Wiring Diagram says). Here is PIN-OUT for connector 5k for J453 - notice the glaring absence of a designation on PIN5!!

Best offer that I have had in a long time, but as marcrae19 is insinuating, perseverance in adversity is either the hallmark of a very committed person, or it's a sign of a person that should be committed (to somewhere where there are lots of behavioural therapists)! - As I suspect that you fall into the former category, I will reluctantly decline the offer - but thanks

    Don
Please don't PM to ask questions about coding, or vehicle repairs. The better place to deal with these matters is on-line, in the forum proper. That way you get the benefit of the expertise of the wider forum! Thank you.

That is interesting. I guess it's an optional item. Surely they wouldn't put a wire there for no reason.

In the Mk6, pin5 is use to retransmit the horn.... but the horn is also connected into pin4. I've wired it this way to the Mk7 steering wheel also and the horn still works

The reason I got the wheel was because it came up at the right price. I don't mind spending a bit of time to get it working, however it now looks almost certain that I'll probably have to spend half as much again and there's still no guarantees the additional parts are going to fit/work.

It's probably better for someone with a Mk7 to take it off my hands and fit to their car. It's a nice upgrade for someone looking to get some DSG paddles.

That way I can get a complete Polo/Scirocco wheel instead and not have to worry that all the bits are going to fit/work.

Nice find marcrae. I have no doubt it can be done, however I still suspect these wheels are all for PQ platform not MQB.

Well I found out that the buttons from a Polo GTI wheel was going to cost me $600 at the dealer with no guarantees it was going to fit/work and no returns on the part so I've sold the wheel and will go on the hunt for a Polo GTI/Scirocco R/Mk6 GTI or R wheel with paddle shifters.

I'll do some research on the Polo steering wheel as I'm 99% sure that's what the guys in the UK that claim that they have working are using.

I hold out hope that someone much smarter than I will figure out how to do this. In the meantime i will keep adding information i find related to the topic.

Here i found this steering wheel control module table. Not sure if it's of any use.

Our Mk7 wheel arrived this week, so I'll try to pull it apart in the next few weeks and do some comparison with the Mk6 wheel in terms of the CAN and LIN traffic.

Awesome James. Does your Mk7 have the volume buttons on the left hand side? Does it have paddle shift? here is mine

Yes to the volume buttons, no to paddle shift - it's from a manual Mk7 Golf R.
