i reckon its not possible it only works up to 10km/h no further i reckon its a gimmick

Not a gimmick, is a legal requirement of ADR's and in many other countries too.
There are "Video in Motion" adapters on ebay that allow you to defeat this, and whilst they themselves are not illegal, it is NOT legal for the driver to be able to see video whilst the vehicle is in motion.
