Not very loud, but if I sit in the car with windows up I can hear it. If I'm standing outside with the front doors wide open and put my ear 3 inches from the tweeter, I can easily hear the hiss. Interestingly it doesn't hiss from any other speakers only the tweeters!

is there RCA's running form the back of the headunit ?
They are amped, however it's the factory fitted Dynaudio system. You'd think it shouldn't hiss... I have a feeling that some part of the circuit isn't grounded properly or come loose and introducing background noise into the system/tweeters. I'm also wondering if this has happened to anybody else?

Its either noise being induced in the RCA's, crossovers or tweeter itself, its easy to have a play around to find which it is, but because your car is new, youd void warrenty, defs go back tell them about it, should be a easy fix,

    Hey Harleyqn,
I had a hissing like sound which came from the tweeter/speaker in the drivers side rear passenger door(The speaker next to the door handle) To me it sounded like a geiger counter going off, refer to this clip but skip to 2.00mins to hear the sound i'm talking about. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TCqsnap6a1A. Same like yours, the offending noise only came from the one speaker.
It bugged the crap out of me, but was gone in 2 days and hasn't come back, so i never got VW to look at it.
Hopefully yours rights itself, otherwise take it in to VW to get it looked at.
    Cheers,
    Jayse.

Woah, my hissing wasn't that loud.. but it's a similar sound. I have booked it with the dealer and will report back after 5th Feb.
