hey guys just bought a mkII golf, im new to the whole vw seen, influenced by my best mate, the car runs excellent, only thing is i cant get the fans to switch on inside the car, any ideas guys?

presume you mean the heater fans. Not familiar exactly with this car, but generically i would try checking:
switch
wire continuity
fan motors
fuse
