    They're commercial CD's & DVD's.

Battery might be on the way out. $293 for a battery from Skoda. $159, 179, 196 for a cheapo, Alco or Century.

I would go with the BOSCH battery at the moment, however $293 for the battery from Skoda is not that bad, as long as it is VARTA, just make sure it's a fresh battery (not being on the shelf for a year or two).

Be interesting to see how much the Bosch one is (I would think similar to the Skoda one).

Messed about with the coding a bit more. Have sound now. I think the no audio was because I had microphone monitoring on, but I changed a couple of things so I'll have to switch them one by one to work out exactly which was the cause. I updated the firmware, but that wasn't the issue.

This ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ is exactly why it's worth every cent to buy a real VCDS cable.

If you were closer, I would get you Bosch for $200

And it's worth noting that if you buy one second hand, it will cost another $99 to obtain this service.

Just an update on this. Went to the local Bosch battery dealer thinking they had a way to test a battery better than I can. Merely tested the voltage (which tells you bugger all). Completely unhelpful - I think they expected me to buy a battery on a hunch. Grouchy as hell too - the usual thing you get at these places.

Anyway I just left it and it seems fine with the original battery. Must just have been a bit low when I did the RNS510 firmware upgrade and having the ignition on for that long drains the battery quite a bit.

Yes, SOME battery places are like that, but most/all of them should have the battery tester and know how to use it to reliably test the battery.

edit: just looking at your signature, check the production date of your car and the past service record, making sure that the battery wasn't replaced already , the battery is most likely +4 years old, so based on that replacing it wouldn't hurt, (you could save yourself some inconvenience later).
