Help: need a new iPod cable

Did a stupid thing yesterday, was vacuuming the GTI and moved the passenger seat forward, next thing - CRUNCH - the iPod cable normally sits in the console but it was left out and had fallen down between the seat and console, and ended up getting caught in the seat railing. Completely destroyed!

Anyways, spoke to VW, cable isn't available separately, have to buy the whole kit again. Anyone know where I can score just the cable? Basically one end is the iPod connector, other end is a small DIN plug, similar to an S-Video connection.

Do you know the part number of the ipod connector? Its printed on the black box that the DIN end plugs into.

Not yet. I'll have to pull the head unit out and extract the cable...

I have factory iPod cable currently in car but do not like it. I want to go back to the simple plug in the centre console. I assume this will happen if I take the factory ipod kit out.
