FWIW, I'm in tigger73's Adelaide group buy, and was initially going to install the thing as soon as it arrives. But given the install placement on a RHD Mk6 Golf, I'm now thinking I'll hold off for a few weeks while Autopolar sort out any firmware issues with the new white MFD firmware before I install it. I really don't want to have to get back in underneath the wipers to physically disconnect the FIS from the car, should it do something funny in Beta.

they suggest removing the gateway fuse from the car instead of removing the whole device. that way you can leave the USB cable hanging out

In order to effect a reset of the system, you mean? Removing the fuse for the CAN gateway will surely prevent the car from operating? (I've been struggling to follow some of the posts on the auto-polar forum... somewhat broken English.)

Functionality can depend on what hardware you have installed on your car. i.e. if the hardware is not there to support the feature then you obviously won't be able to do it.
There's quite a few videos available on Mk V with Autopolar FIS+ Advanced - this ones in Spanish (I think) but you get the general idea.
