I had a look again at the setup and it says GPS antenna connected, however it doesn't connect to the satellites. Bugger.
I think I will bring it to VW Barloworld soon to be fixed.

Have you taken it for a drive to see if it can find any or are you still in the garage???

I was outside when I removed the unit and checked the connection. I will try the reboot tomorrow and the factory reset plus your reset. Lets see if one of them helps.

My method is more a hard restart than a reboot Try it first then a reset if needed Sometimes it needs to go for a drive to orient itself Mine did after last update and took about a K.

Have you updated the firmware at all Pete? This same thing happened to me when I updated to 4120. It came good for a while when allowed to sit in the open to get the satellite fix then my antenna moved, so I had to play around again. Otherwise I am out of ideas. With factory RNS the sharkfin shouldn't be obscured.
Funny thing is, it is acting just like mine was when the antenna had slipped further into the dashboard and wasn't getting a proper signal on the satellites.

Yes I have the latest 4120 firmware. I updated it a month ago.

Unfortunately none of the resets helped. I am bringing the car to VW soon.

I assume you've gone for a 10+ minute drive recently as that can calibrate it and fix it (I've had to do it when installing the RNS for the first time and following one particular firmware upgrade).

Otherwise you could try buying an antenna for the RNS that sits inside the dashboard via ebay.

I'm not sure a replacement antenna would do anything for him Ryan. The RNS is "seeing" the satellites but not tracking them, the antenna is showing connected in the secret menu, and the RNS was factory fitted, so it has a sharkfin antenna - no obscuration of signal.

What about if the cable is disconnected at the antenna end under the roof? Would the RNS still show it as "connected" because the cable is connected at the back of the unit?
