    Golf VI and RNS510

hi.. posting here on behalf of a mate...

Essentially he had the RCD510 on the Golf VI.

After upgrading to the RNS510, and configuring via VAGCOM to turn on "Navigation" and "BAP on the RNS510, he is:

    1. able to listen to tracks
    2. BUT not able to use his steering wheel controls to control the volume/track

Must we do something different on the Golf VI?

Thanks in advance for any tips

What's the firmware version on the RNS 510 and did he code the steering wheel controls? Check controller 16 - Steering but there may not be a label file for it yet.

    firmware is 1100.

We've coded Multi Function Wheel in Controller 56 Radio... but we've not done anything to Controller 16.. interesting...

    cheers

    That's probably a 1T0 035 680 B?

I'd upgrade the firmware as you're a few revisions behind 900, 1100 were after 800 and now 2660 is out.

Can you upgrade to this latest version without the 1100 upgrade or do you need to do it in a certain upgrade order? I'm not sure what my current version is.

Is this upgrade available through a dealer as my MY09 VI is still under warranty if the unit is bricked (small %) will it void the warranty?

When I attempt to extract the part 2, part 3 & 4 I get a wrong password error come up. The part 1 extracted fine. I'm using the single password on the my-gti site.

    Thanks

Do you have the maps DVD in case you need to reload them?

You can upgrade from any version (so far) to this version.

Not sure about the upgrade through a dealer, so far everyone I've seen (only a few people world wide) that have had a failure have been able to go back to 1100. It could void your warranty depending on how it became bricked and the knowledge of the staff at the dealer and so on.

You only have to have the four files in the one directory and extract the file from the first file as it's a multipart compressed file. It should be around 400mb when extracted.

Is it worth doing? Yes so far no problems but I'd be singing a different tune if I bricked my unit!

    Thanks Maverick,

yes I have the DVDs, I don't have bluetooth atm, which makes it all seem worthwhile to get voice control. May see Harding Performance re that install. I will try the extract again with all the files in one folder.

    Thanks

hi! I upgraded mine from 0900 to 26xx last night with a couple of mates. 5 of us succeeded, whilst 1 had some problems.

My map was not erased, but it did take many minutes and a couple of reboots before the map was seen onscreen.
