    Fiscon BT + RCD510 + MDI & iPhone 4 - Any known issues?

I recently took delivery of my Jetta 147TSI with MDI, VW BT and standard RCD510. I am disappointed with the Bluetooth installed (intermittent connection problems & lack of features).

I am considering having the Fiscon Bluetooth installed through Northfield. I read that someone was having trouble with the audio coming through on 2 speakers in the from with the Fiscon Bluetooth as the unit thought it was an audio connection.

Are there any issues that people know of when using the iPhone 4 through the MDI for music and using the iPhone 4 through the Fiscon Bluetooth on the RCD510?

    Thanks in advance!

What BT kit did you get? You can do a direct replacement of the control unit on the 9W2/3 kits with the newer 9W7 kit that works fine with the iPhone 4

From what I've been reading I think it must just be the standard parrot bluetooth installed by the dealer. It cost about $350. Does the newer 9W7 kit have full functionality with the RCD510 that you know of?

I believe so, should do full phonebook sync for iPhone 4, plus A2DP (Stereo Bluetooth).

If you buy it from the Polish ebay guy, the kit costs about $550 or so landed in Australia, a dealer will charge you 2hrs labour ($300 total) for fitting, so you'd be out about $850, or you can DIY like I plan to next weekend.

I found a couple listed for about $300US, doesn't say how much shipping is though. There was a good install link here VWVortex.com - DIY: 9W7 Bluetooth swap from 9W2 on RNS510. If the bluetooth module is in the same spot in my Jetta I think I'll do the DIY option myself. When I take it in for a service they can VAGCOM the voice activation on the steering wheel. Do you mind letting me know how the install in yours goes?

Yep, I'll post up the results from my 5-mod weekend which I'm planning either next weekend of the weekend after

As for VAGCOM, dealer could definitely do it, but not sure what they'd charge you just for that... if you can find another member then the usual price is a 6pack of their fav (or a case, depending on the person). Being in Rocky though, not sure how much luck you'd have there.
