Hi, joining group after buying 2013 Passat Alltrack a few weeks ago. Was driving down NSW north coast and existing map showed we were in the middle of cane fields since new Pacific M1 wasn't around then.

Will V10 map instal on RNS510 with 5238 firmware with Sensis map 8207?

It's kind of funny that systems takes memory sticks and SD cards but a DVD is still required.

Answer in reply above AFAIK its the only way to do it and is the only map available. That unit is just about due for a museum and is virtually not supported any more as are most GPS units over 7 years old. Where are you getting the SENSIS map from.

Do NOT buy maps from anywhere else especially Navigation Australia as is a scam outfit.

Hillbilly is right, you're better off investing in a CarPlay/Android Auto compatible device and using your phone for Navigation through Waze, Google, Apple or whatever your poison is.
While it's nice to have a completely offline fall back that is not reliant on an internet connection, Navigation really does chew through that much data (unless you're on the road *ALL* the time) in the grand scheme of things. Google Maps does let you download maps to the phone which minimise any need for data too, not sure about the others.

If you really really want an offline map solution you can get double din head units which will do this, but they tend to be far more expensive than units that just to CarPlay/Android Auto.

eg the Pioneer AVIC range at about $2k for the headunit:

For no GPS, but CarPlay/Andoid Auto there is the OEM RCD330+ which can be had for anywhere from about $350 on Aliexpress (or far more locally) or what I did with a Maxca unit both of which should be plug and play (the Maxca does wireless CarPlay/Andoid Auto too)** (except the RVC and coding out the old equipment you don't need).

Otherwise you need a Pioneer/Sony/JVC etc etc double din unit, mounting and wiring kit etc to use one of these.

Thanks for your reply. I checked the firmware and map version and found the above information, incl the reference to Sensis map. So confirming, the RNS 510 with firmware 5238 will accept the map you linked to? Or is or should I try and upgrade the firmware?

5238 is about the latest and will be fine as would be any other firmware in an AUS model. Eurocarupgrades have offices in different cities but no doubt will post you a disc

5238 is the most stable, reliable firmware for the RNS510.
You may find 'higher' numbered firmware, but it is a foolish step to consider the higher numbered version is better/faster/more stable.

    5238 is good enough.

Also, remember, any Sensis based map file will always be 18 months- 2 years old BEFORE it is released. eg, if they are selling 2022 Map...rest assured the date is older than 2020.

I have put those map upgrades into the WOFTAM file (Waste of Phucking Time And Money).

Go for the Carplay/Android unit. It is what I will be doing for our R32 this year.

As said above 5238 is enough as the units are almost museum pieces now and no updates much
