Hi Everyone,
Just wondering if anyone definitively knows which firmware I have to downgrade to to avoid the battery drain? I gave 5xxx, 4xxx (with swapped tables) and now 2760 on my H04 A revision RNS and haven't had much luck (killed the battery twice on the 4 and 5 firmware versions). I have yet to test the 2760 firmware as I couldn't afford to risk it with work (have been pulling the fuse out) so was wondering if this should fix it? Is there any way to potentially tell if its not shutting down properly?

Read through the thread Im pretty sure its nothing to do with firmware Its a module in the car needs upgrading. Kamold will know but its been discussed a lot so maybe a search on "Battery drain" will help

Canbus gateway upgrade is the most complete solution.
However in some cars (eg 2007 Golf where its up behind the upper relay carrier behind the dash) it's a pain to get to.
This firmware has some tables swapped so should prevent the RNS staying awake when it should be going to sleep after 30mins:

Thanks Kamold, you have done much more than you get credit for on this topic!
unfortunately i have tried this firmware with the tables swapped (guessing its the same as the one off the my-gti website?).
Seems like 2760 might be causing battery drain as well. I have 960 in there before and that didnt cause it, so perhaps I will have to go all the way back to that
Cheers

I would replace the gateway so that you can use current firmware.
But that's me.
You can get a gateway from online sellers that will have it already correctly coded for you if you don't want to use VCDS or OBDEleven etc to configure it.
