Thanks for the heads up, the MFA has come to life after I restarted the car this afternoon.
Dealers generally don't have VCDS.

Joined up to the site to say thank you to Kamold for the great information and help! The fw update managed to solve my bluetooth issues where I could see track names, but not hear anything. It would only work when it was streaming all sound without track names. Thanks again!
Anybody know if you can turn off the bluetooth connected tone when you start your car?
It's frustrating when something interesting is on the radio, and then you hear the bluetooth tone, and then a delay of 5 seconds or so before you get audio again.
What Bluetooth connection tone? I don't hear anything, so I guess it's possible. My setup is RNS-510 with 9W7 bluetooth module.

Bit of an odd request here, I was forced to update my unit to the 523x firmware listed about recently. Reason being the unit was stuck in a boot loop related to a dodgy mp3. What the 523x update did was of course repartition my stock hard drive and have me lost all my music, stopping the problem with the unit booting onto the dodgy mp3. So, don't ask but the offending mp3 made its way on my hard drive again and once more I'm in the loop. No worries I think, lets reinstall the 523x firmware and it will reset, thing is as the hard drive is already repartitioned I'm not wiping the mp3s this time and I'm still stuck in the loop (All I get is the VW logo, a bit of music and then a crash back and reboot).
Sooooo, I'm just after an older version of stock firmware that will work with my 2012 Passat basically... Are there any about? Or alternately a button combo that will wipe everything?
Top left two and right one all at once resets it You could format the drive and start again That would fix it. Did you reload your music after losing it

Hi mate - you need to make a FORMAT DISK which will wipe the mp3 HDD and/or MAPS partitions .. no need to redo the firmware. Then you can reinstall the maps and mp3 as required.
Find the CD ISO here: Volkswagen RNS 510 Firmware Upgrade and Information | my-gti.com
The use imgburn to burn it as a UDF disc (not iso966)
Good luck
