If you are referring to the5XXX version it was posted some time ago there was no advantage over 4120 other than if you have a DAB+ version.
As almost no one does there seems little point in doing it.

As there is no published changelog it's up to you if you want to upgrade. Some report faster startup on some systems, some minor ui tweaks but no feature changes except to support capable DAB units.
Your mileage may vary, and there is always a small risk with any upgrade of a failure which could render the unit inoperable.

was just wondering if the RVC camera displays any faster when the car first starts up...another questions is what is preserved if anything with the upgrade since I have never done it on my unit

You will need a map disc and any POI also probably lose music on the HDD as it repartitions it if you dont already have the modified version

As kamold pointed out, the change log is non-existent. However there are numerous small changes visible and likely a few bigger ones that aren't visible. I haven't bothered to document them but noticed immediately changes to the UI, ie, new buttons,layout of panels, some others have noted variations in NAV such as just colour changes. Personally I find the upgrade worthwhile, your mileage may vary however, as flashing firmware is inherently a bit risky and you have no recourse should the flash fail.

I upgraded from 4120, I had the newest maps (purchased from VW V7).
I recon it is quicker to recalculate. I also note that the dual screen has an option for a maneuver list (which I never noticed before).
I did not need to reload maps or music or POI.
New Dubber
I have just done the upgrade from 3xxx to 5xxx without issue. I have noticed the new radio text display and the parking sensor screen now shows a grid. However I don't seem to be able to record a voice tag for a phone contact. I press the create button but don't hear the usual voice prompts. Has anyone else noticed this?

Just went to Volkswagen today since the V8 maps were released last week. Last year $65 for the Disk this year $867 for V8 how do the hell does VW get off doing this what a rip off. Considering no speed warning street announcement and so on.... not happy ... thats over a 1000 % increase in price....
